"Running is the greatest metaphor for life, because you get out of it what you put into it." - Oprah Winfrey

This was my final run before Ramadan, i decided to bring the boys for this fun run. Managed to booked a place at last minute, courtesy to Hailmi – Subang Jaya Adination Trainer. The Adination Breakfast Run series is a free running events, you only need to pay extra RM25 for the finisher medal. I decided to opt out of buying the medals, too many hanging in the house currently.
There are two categories for this event, 15km and 10km. I decided to run 10km as i intended to run pushing the stroller with my kids inside.
A dear friend gave a head up about the Bt Jelutong running route a day before, he said that it’s a tough route with many inclines and killer hills. I guess he was right, but for me it all a mental challenge, i was only looking to finish the 10km in easy pace and not to pursue PB.
The 15km category started first before the 10km runners joined 30 minutes later. The weather was magnificent, cooling breeze with slight rains at the finish.
The route had many long inclines with two killer hills, i ran all throughout the 10km route except for the hills, decided to conserved my energy and walked it.
Team Ray, Bobby and Boboy received quite many good responses from the runners. It was priceless if you could look at Yim’s perplexed expression when i told him i was running with the kids and the stroller. Few others runners smiled at us and even stopped by to chat with us, even one of the top official stop dead in his track from start the race to have a chat with me, i wish you could see his his disbelief face when i confirmed his query that i was running with two boys in the stroller. It made my day, and i was the only one running with the stroller that fine morning. I guess it was norms in US or Europe, parents runs with their kids in tow, but here in Malaysia it is still something new.
Nearing the finishing line, the guy at the back expression was priceless.
We completed the 10km run in 1’14’’ and managed to overtake few slow runners along the way, it was really a good training in pushing your boundary. Running with stroller is not a rocket science, you just need to learn and practice the correct running techniques. Fortunately there was an article about it few months back in Runner’s World. Once the stroller is in motion, it’s easy to push to your regular pace except when running up the killers hills – that took a lot efforts and energy.
Overall it was a good event organised by Adidas Malaysia and Adination Shah Alam, congrats to all participants and organiser.
