Giant Kids Run 2011

It was so easy to wake up Boboy that morning, he was up in an instance not even the usual protest. Boboy was really excited about this run all week, slept by his brand new shoes besides his pillow that night.

We’re fast on our way to Kepong Metropolitan Park after Subuh prayer, not many cars around 6 am in the morning, but upon arrival to the race venue; we found out that the car park was already full, i had to park at the side of the road to the entrance.

The run was scheduled to start at 7:30 am according to age category, with 4-6 years old started the first wave, girls first mind you.

Met fellow blogger Flash & Kuchalana with their kids, all enjoying and sharing the excitement with their kids. Flash started the first wave run with his daughter and Boboy was scheduled for the second wave,

For category 4-6 years old, they need to run 700 meter with one of the parents, hence the two bibs for each parent and kid.

The starting line was packed with parents and kids, and we managed to slot right in the middle. When the run started just before 8 am, we had to slowly walk as there were too many people around us. After few meters the path was starting to clear up, and Boboy started to run at a good pace, all of the sudden in the middle of the run he stopped….i asked why? Water station la abah, we drink Milo first! Adoi!!!!

So we stopped for Ice Cold Milo, Boboy had two cups before started his run again. When we crossed the finish line, we’re greeted by Rainer Biemens from SCKLM, he was helping out the organizer that day – i guess since the both of us wore the SCKLM 10’ vest it was obvious to him.

We collected the medal, the certificate and goody bag afterwards, mind you the medal is NOT plastic even for a kids running event. The coloured finisher medal was a good encouragement for the kids.  I applaud Giant for this effort to promote running for the young kids, we’ll see you again next year.
