It’s Officially another PB

Fullscreen capture 2962010 55656 PM

I posted an earlier entry relating runners timing, whether to take Gun Time or Chip Time/Net Time as our timing. Most runners responded through my comments section indicated that i should take Chip Time/Net Time as my timing, i agreed with Syah’s perspective that we should take the time when we cross the Starting line and completed it later after crossing the Finish line. The Gun time is to determined winners and placing among the runners, especially important to the Elite runners.

A visit to marathon-photos.com confirm Syah’s theory, found four pictures of me crossing the Finish line and they took my Net Time as my official timing. I did not expect a PB coz i was running my own maiden SCKLM race and was lacking of energy, which reminds me to refer to the Otais/Kings/Ultras to share their experiences and knowledge in strategizing running races.

KLAA0993 PB is a bonus but the most important thing is to enjoy the race itself. Like Haza used to said in her blog, every race is like a little story in your running chapters.

My placing/rank at 732 of 3763 HM runners is not bad. As mentioned in the previous entry, i was calm and not nervous at all for this SCKLM race, it might be due to the familiarity of the Kuala Lumpur race route, if i were to run in foreign place it might be a different story.

I just love the SCKLM route, mostly flat and then its rained before the race started, another bonus. It’s kind of weird, during the run i was feeling kind of bored. Did i had enough of Half Marathon? Is it time to upgrade to Full Marathon now? I think not yet, let’s enjoyed running injury free and gain more running experiences before FMVing next year, hopefully we the new batch of FMV will be given the same stupendous support next year.

Ok guys enjoyed your Zero week and hope to see most of you in the coming Seremban Half, like Diket said in his recent posting, our Circle of RBUs is getting bigger and i spent most the time today reading race reports from more than 10 fellow RBUs blogs. We need more bloggers to run and more runners to blog.

Standard Chartered Kuala Lumpur Marathon 2010

scklm It’s my 4th HM and i felt calm and collected, not even a flicker of nervousness. I asked myself the night before the race, whassup dude? Still no answer until morning. I tried to sleep early but only managed to shut the eyes at around 10 pm and i sacrificed my world cup games for the early wake up at 3:15 am.

After quick shower and a bit of breakfast, the missus and i drove towards Padang Merbok at around 4 am. SCKLM is my missus maiden race – 10 km, she was not an athlete nor a runner before this. I just wanted to share and expose her to another world beyond the this one – the runners world. We arrived at Padang Merbok around 4:30 am and managed to park in front of the loo. Decided to empty our bladder first before walking towards Dataran Merdeka, met Sofian the Triathelete at the parking, exchanging hellos and good lucks, never met him before but recognised from following his blog. Everyone seems smaller in real life, except for Amsyah..he he. He’s bigger and taller in real life compare to his photos in the blog :)

IMG_2373

Its starting to drizzle during our walks towards Dataran Merdeka, i quickly try to locate the surau and found it near the Selangor Club, but it’s occupied by runners sheltering from the rains. We rendezvous with fellow virgin runners there, my friends Zaidi and Farah (husband and wife tag team). They will run 10 km race with my missus. We then quickly located another surau near the food court behind the church, but somebody was sleeping in it. We then decided to perform our subuh prayers at nearby Jamek Mosque at 5:43 am.

I met Ijam at the VIP tent as the Full Marathon event about to start at 5:00 am, we cheered as the FM runner flagged off – to my amazement, there were thousands of them. It was raining quite heavily by then, i knew i’m gonna like this race, it was a good weather for me as i like to run in the rains. Ijam was running with a friend, who is doing her maiden HM race. Good luck Ijam, see you on the road dude.

IMG_2380With Ijam and Zaidi (virgin 10km runner)

I had a can of Red Bull and a banana prior the race and quickly made my way towards starting line after my subuh prayer, but then i had to visit the loo again. By this time, the line for the porta-loo was long, and the emcee started counting from 10 seconds for the start of the Half Marathon race, fortunately for me the other runners gave me their permission to cut their queue, thanks guy you’re amazing! I sprinted towards the crowd of runners after exiting the loo and found myself at the back of the pack as usual, the crowd was moving very very slow towards the starting line, after about 4 minutes i reached the gantry and the timing chip was activated, lost 4 minutes here. In the early few kilometres i had to zig zag around the runners to maintain my pace, i tried not to go to fast too soon, but it’s not an easy task, when you running with large crowds, you tend to pace faster than your usual. Met fellow FB friend – Ayob and fellow RBU Ilyana at roundabout near Masjid Negara KTM, said hello and maintained my pace.

By kilometre 5 (Jalan Syed Putra), the crowds was beginning to get smaller and it was easier to run without bumping into someone and slowing your pace. I had walk breaks at every stations, i am a stern believer in properly hydrating your body during the race. I bumped onto the Queen of FMV - June Malik after the water station at KM 14 (FM)/ 8.5 (HM) – Jalan Loke Yew. I could not missed her with the special FMV vest and she was walking, decided to cheer her up a bit by say hello and giving high five! After that while running i kept on thinking about her and i do hope she completes this Marathon, it meant so much to us runners especially the RBUs, that she and the rest of the FMV completed this race.  I had my banana break at WC KM 10 (HM)/KM 15 (FM).

I met my idol near the exit of Jalan Cheras at KM16 (FM)/KM 11(HM), i ran besides her and said hello, at first she didn’t heard me (must be engrossed with the Bieber songs..he he), then she responded and commanded me to do a PB..wahh i really doubt it this time as my feet felt heavy after KM 10, i wanna enjoyed this run and just maintained my pace, sub 2:30 for me will be just dandy, PB will be another time and i had registered lotsa races till the end of the year. I felt under powered this time around and soon after decided to take power gel at KM 12, i felt a little bloated as i took one too many cups at the WSs. I met Dett at KM 14 or rather Dett overtook me with his new striking red vest at Jalan Tun Razak, we chatted a little and told me that he met Ijam at the back. I think i missed  Ijam and Che completely during this race. Entering Bukit Bintang area was interesting, they were many cheering squads located here, i think most of the runners spirits were uplifted by the cheerings, thanks guys. I met another FMV near Pavilion, i think it was Az Hana, seems she was struggling and then i sneaked besides her and start cheering and clapping “FMV, FMV, FMV!”. She smiled and looked a little bit refresh, i do hope she made it to the finish line.

27062010013I am gonna remember this race for a very long time, i ran past lotsa iconic KL buildings structure during the run. Passing Petronas Towers made me thinking that i would  be nuts to run through these buildings in the past, normally i just drove to these places. It’s unimaginable that i could run the distances, in my younger days (young and sengkek days), i walks from Jalan TAR to Bukit Bintang, that was considered far by my standard back then.

I was near Kg. Bahru at Jalan Sultan ismail when all of the sudden Deo came and overtook me, man he had lotsa energy, he said hello and sped off, i cheered him on to run faster. I can imagine he’s in a hurry to loose his HM virginity..he he. You did a great job deo in your first HM, a potential sub 2 runners in the future. After deo, i noticed Ketua Reban sped past me. Am i getting slow or the rest of runners getting faster? i pick up my tempo and pace a little after that when we turned into Jalan TAR/Maju junction for the final 1 km. Near Pertama complex the 10km runners joined us and all of the sudden the road became crowded again, ohh no! i had to zig zag again to maintained my diminishing pace, some of the 10km runners were walking towards the end which posed a challenge to other runners trying to PBed their own records.

IMG_8818Running besides “the second wind guy”. Photo taken from Ijam.

Nearer the finish i noticed a guy struggling to maintained his run, i ran besides him and started to cheer him. “Come on man, you can do this, it almost finish”, i said. Then all of the sudden he somehow had a second wind and pushed his pace and left me behind, even i could not catch him now..he he. Arriving at the finish line at 8:32 am, i cannot believed my eyes – 2:17 timing, the digital board for HM stated, i felt my run was shitty and could do much better, but despite that it was really a good run. A check on the official timing confirms it.

SCKLM timing

According to Gun Time 2:17:47 was 2 minutes off from my PB recorded at Setia Eco, but if i considered the Net Time 2:14:37, i do have a new PB.

What do you think?

PB or not a PB?

In most races, Gun Time is considered the official time, Net Time is just for our record only.

medalMissus, Farah and Zaidi completed their 10km run with delight and were excited getting their 1st shiny medals. I was informed that a young runner in the 10km category collapsed and died upon arriving at the Hospital, it’s a tragic news indeed. My from point of view, the SCKLM 2010 was a success, despite the bib and baggage deposits issues, overall it’s a good event, water was sufficient and the volunteers was commendable for their job well done.

I left early and didn’t managed to see the rest of the RBUs and FMVs completing their races, managed to waved at Amsyah from a far and met Deo while waiting to collect my deposited bags. My feet was in pains right after the race, and i was crab walking all the way to Padang Merbok to collect my car. Upon arriving at home, i realised that i forgot to put the heel seats in my running shoes! No wonder i was in pains.

After lunch and few hours sleeps, i woke up fresh in the afternoon and realised the heel pains was gone, that was fast recovery. Normally it took one or two days for me to recover. I did not have crab walking anymore, felt the feet are much more better than before the injury as though i am walking free of injury. Seremban Half here i come, lets try for a PB this time :)

Are you ready?

IMG_2345

LIFE IS SHORT, RUNNING MAKES IT LONGER – Anon

It’s a few more hours before race day, by now most of us are resting, hydrating, carbo-loading, restless and itching for the flag off so we can run searching for the morning glory. In a few more hours we’ll soon find out the training hours we gone through gonna be worth every minutes and kilometres.

For those about to rock run (for the first time – virgin runners), i salute each and everyone of you, whether its 5km, 10km, Half Marathon or Full Marathon. You’re a special breed and remember it’s a race against none other than yourself, forget the timing! forget other runners! It’s you against the rest of the world which do not believe you have the courage and determination to complete your race. I know each and everyone of you will prove them wrong!

Good luck peeps and have fun running, i will have to sacrifice my world cup games tonite, gotta hit the sack early right after isya’, hopefully before nine pm and probably woke up around 3 am. For some reasons, i’m excited but NOT nervous, is that a bad sign or somethin? Please gimme somethin to be nervous about…none. We’ll try again soon tonite, hope to see all you peeps out there tomorrow.

p.s. Photo above is the future member of GKL and hopefully RBU :)

SCKLM 2010 – Race Kit

I successfully collected the Standard Chartered Kuala Lumpur Marathon bibs today, i was planning going early to pick up the race kits at around 12:00 pm; but i was held up in a meeting at Kelana Jaya and only able to reach Lake Titiwangsa around 4:30 pm.

I was quite surprise when entering the Titiwangsa Stadium as i was expecting a large crowd, but the was none. There was a few peeps here and there, and only a long odd queue at the information counter, i guessed some unlucky people are having problems with their registration.

I was there in and out about 10 minutes, no need to queue at the “kandang” as there was quite an empty scene there. I made a bee line towards the bulk collection counter as i was collecting three bibs – mine 21km, the missus 10km and 950 meters Kid Dash for my kid. I gave my printouts of race confirmation and the form “to collect on behalf” to the volunteer at the counter, funny she did not even ask for my MyKad as instructed in KL Marathon website; she then punch some numbers into the computer and voila i got my race kits before i could say “ LAMBATNYA”.

 IMG_2322

Race kit (half marathon) consist of :-

  • Bag
  • NB Vest
  • Bib numbers with D-Tag Timing Chip
  • Runners Guide Book
  • Power Bar Banana Flavour (collected from Power Bar counter – only for FM & HM)

IMG_2323Category – 21km, 10km and 950 meters

 IMG_2327

I was lucky enough that there was no drama in collecting the race kits, i suggest if you haven’t collect your race kit, you might want to consider coming collecting it after lunch or late afternoon.

The bib was superbly nice, customised with runners name and numbers – an exact copy cat of ENR and NB 15km race kit (this bib is the benchmark for future races bib and timing chip in Malaysia). The vest design is just plain simple but the material is soft and comfy, this will qualify as my future sleeping gown.

Anyway i better ready and bring some cash on the race day, who knows lightning may strike twice and the organizer might suck big time second time in a row. Now here’s to some more tapering and carbo-loading peeps :)

I don’t have Bob to tickle your mind, but i have Peter Pan.

Disclaimer: This is not my creative artwork, just taken randomly out there in the internetland. Somebody must have lotsa free time doin this.

Enjoy your tapering and carbo-loading everyone..

Royale LSD

It’s a week before SCKLM, i finally ditched the 2:30 am WC game for early shuteyes – well it’s only another England game, what do you expect? I’m glad i missed that game, found out in the morning it was scoreless.

I arrived at Bukit Aman’s car park around 6:15ish, thought i was late but upon arriving at the scene there’s not a familiar face insight. Shah came a few minutes later and thought that we might came to the wrong rendezvous point. After i assured him that we came early and he made few calls, all the gangs arrived just before 6:30 am. There was ten of us that Saturday morning, all Kings in our own ways – Diket, Shah, Shuk, Syed, Ziff, Nizam, Det, Nik, Azmar and myself.

The 20km LSD was the menu of the day, a lil’ bit of advice if you plan to do shorter LSD, pls keep it to yourself else you’ll be treated like a King for the day like Ziff. He intended to do 10km LSD but end up with around 20 km :) anyway congrats the new King.

The route was from Bukit Aman to Hartamas and reroute back to Bukit Aman, the pace was slow and i tag along with Ziff at the back. The group moved together like this until we arrived near Stadium Hoki, all of the sudden the pacers in front slow down and join us at the back, i could see it all in ziff’s face “hampeh, abis la aku!”. Ziff was surrounded by us and we all follow his pace, there’s no room for escape he he. If someone were to look at us running there and then, they might mistaken Ziff for a VIP running surrounded by bodyguards, hence the Royale LSD.

We arrived at Hartamas’ Petronas for refuelling around 7:40ish, after few minutes break we headed back to Bukit Aman. On our way back we bumped into Che Daud at around Stadium Hoki Jalan Duta, he joined our group running back towards starting point. He supposed to join us earlier for the run but held up for some reasons, anyway it’s nice that he could finally join us for the run. The sun was up and shining at the time, and its getting quite warm for our comfort. About 4km near Tijani, all hell broke loose, everyone (except for a few martyrs) push the NoS button and off they go frantically running away from the sun. I suspected that a few of these runners are actually Vempire…he he. Next time i’ll bring garlic, just to test my theory…

LSD royale

It nice to run LSD in a group, it took away all the loneliness in running alone plus it fun especially with the “lambung” session.. he he. Ijam and Zaki would dearly gonna miss this fun, hey guys next time join us, you dunno what you’re missing out :)

It was about 19km run which ended around 9.00ish with a good breakfast at the Bt Aman car park stall. To all GKLs and RBUs, good luck next Sunday for KL Marathon, i’m looking forward to a good race with 16,500 plus peeps that day.

Nujum Pak Belalang

Righto before the games begin let’s have a look on my prediction on who’s gonna win the big kahuna..err i mean the FIFA World Cup.

1. flag-164-108 SPAIN

This is my favourite team to win the World Cup this time around. Most of Spain team consisted of players that won the UEFA European Football Championship two years ago. This is a balanced team with most of the players coming from FC Barcelona which won the Treble last season. The strength on this team coming from the Midfields, the coach is spoilt with choices, Fabregas, Xavi, Iniesta, Xabi Alonso plus deadly duo of strikers - Fernando Torres and David Villa.

The captain is none other than Iker Casillas, which is one of the best goalkeeper in the world right now.

2. ARGENTINA flag-202-108

Messi and co. might clinch the cup of gold with the help from the legendary Maradona. Make no mistake, Argentina boast the most complete striker all around, you have Carlos Tevez, Kun Aguero, Diego Milito (Treble winners with Inter Milan), Higuan and Messi (top scorers in Spanish league – 61 goals between them), to the other team; be afraid be very afraid…This could be Messi year to cement his status as a new legend replacing Maradona.

On the downside – Maradona also included a few has been players into the squad – remembers these names? Veron, Martin Palermo – to me these guys are too old for competitive games like the World Cup, but hey it’s just me…

3. BRAZILflag-205-108

The samba boys always been a favourite team for most peeps, with their sublime skills, who can resist to adore them. Brazil never had problems in replacing new stars in every edition of the World Cup, look out for Kaka and the other Brazil stars strut their samba skills in the field.

My only concern is that only Robinho is the most complete strikers out there for team Brazil, unfortunately in attacking department Brazil lack the depth of skills of previous stars like Rivaldo, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Romario, Bebeto, Careca etc.

4. ENGLAND flag-448-108

Now my fourth choice will lead to disputes. Although England in the past has been label as the glamour team with WAGS in tow, had never able to achieved a respectable results. But hey peeps, they have the legendary Fabio Capello now as coach, which would be the final jigsaw to complete the team of talented players but no direction. England qualified to South Africa with ease as the group champion, won 9 and only lost 1. Wayne Rooney will be significant for England to achieved their dreams, if Rooney get injured it’s all over England as with Manchester United this season. Lampard, Joe Cole, Gerrard with Lennon would dominate the midfield as usual.

My only critic to the England team is their Goalkeeper, compare with the other top team, English Goalkeeper is very lacking in skills and not very good. You have the choice to field the old goat David James at 39 years of age, or the young talented but lack of international experiences Joe Hart or just gave the job to Robert Green as he is the most reliable among the three players.

FIFA World Cup Fever

Here we go again having a fever that does not goes away at least a month time. FIFA World Cup is here and the opening match will start tonight with host country South Africa Vs Mexico. If you subscribes Astro at home, you won’t miss all the action, all the games and goals especially with Astro repeated games. It’s gonna be a long fabulous month indeed, some of you might became zombie in the office with the lack of shut eye.

I can still remember vividly my first World Cup match in 1978, it’s only one game – the final game, Argentina vs Netherland. I saw the game at my neighbour house, there’s lotsa peeps that night in the house, well at that time not everyone can afford an idiot box. I still can see Mario Kempes’ goals in my young head, over and over again. RTM showed that game with main sponsor “tajaan rakyat Malaysia”.

I always supported West Germany (now Germany) as my favourite team, they may not have football skills like the samba boys, but what they have is the never say die attitude. Many times in past epic World Cup games, Germany would conceded the first goal, but they will rises from ashes like phoenix and scored two or three goals to win the match.

Felt like yesterday that i had this World Cup fever, the last time i had a great chance to watch the games in the host nation – Germany. I was there attending a month long course and took the opportunity watching the final match between Italy vs France in open arena in Cologne/Köln (stadium tickets was too expensive, even for European standard).

Good luck supporting your own favourite team, here’s to a great month ahead.. :)

Letter from Seremban

IMG_2186I received a letter from Seremban yesterday, and that’s odd coz i don’t have any pen pal from Seremban. Then it’s hits me, maybe it’s the confirmation of my registration to 23rd Seremban Half Marathon. The returning address at the back of the envelope confirm my assumption.

Seremban Half Marathon not only an iconic race but it’s the cheapest HM in the country – only RM12 for the entry fee. I sent my registration form enclosed with postal order amounted to RM12 to the organizer last week through snail mail. It’s was a quick reply indeed, the letter i received contained race-kit collection (bib and t.shirt) stub, official receipt and reporting card for the Half Marathon.

I registered for the B category – Men Senior for the HM, given the registration number B-0006, i guess i’m the sixth person to registered for this category – yay Team Kiasu did it again!

The A category is for Women Open HM, which is a great change coz normally Category A in any race events are reserved for men.

Calling all RBUs out there, lets do a get together for this event and carpool from KL. Anyone interested, gimme a shout ya :-) save the environment, let reduce our carbon footprint, go green! save the planet!

Setia Eco 1/2 Marathon 2010

ecorunlogo A funny thing happened, i did not felt nervous at all the night before this race, maybe because i did not expect anything out of this event but just another LSD this weekend. This never happened to me before, maybe i could now estimate the distance and knows exactly what to expect during race day.

Due to my required readings, I turn to bed only a couple of minutes before midnight. Prior that, I set the alarm clock at 4:30 am and hoped i didn’t overslept for the big day. Exactly 4:30 a.m. the alarm went off and i had a cold shower before drinking hot milo with bread. About 5:00 am, i left my home and arrived at Setia Alam welcome centre 20 minutes later, this early hours the highway was practically empty.

I search for the Surau at the center and had my Subuh prayer there around 5:40 am, KR was there too praying with me. (KR – Ketua Reban CAR, Mr. Ramlan Sulaiman). I called Zaki and Ijam afterwards, i found out that they still on their way to the race event and Ijam was lost for a while looking for the starting point. I met them finally few minutes before flag off, apart from us there weren’t any RBUs around except for many the familiar faces of Chap Ayam Runners. I like to say as time goes on, i’m enjoying myself more by attending these race events due to more familiar faces and new friends made during it.

The Race

All three of us (myself, Zaki and Ijam) started at the back of the pack, and one of us became accidental pirate runner, looks like Nik got himself a new disciple. Zaki was trying in vain collecting his race kit at the eleventh hour, the result – his bib was nowhere to be found by the organizer, hence became the accidental pirate.

The weather that morning was good, cool Saturday morning. Around 6:30 am, we’re flagged off and although we tried to slow our pace, i feel the first 2km was to fast of a pace around 5.00/km. I was quite surprise because Ijam was there running with us at the back of the pack, because he is normally a fast runner in the same category of Abang Misai. I found out that Ijam did not have the time to warm up, so running with us is like warm up to him, thank you friend, we felt much better knowing that.

After the 1st water station at 2km, Ijam was readying himself to push to his usual fast pace, at 3km we can still see his behind, at 4km he’s gone. On the insistence of Zaki, he asked me not wait for him and off i go trying to catch up Ijam. I was feelin good, the leg was ok, never felt better, i didn’t felt any pains. I was still feeling strong after the turnaround at 8km water station, at that point it’s started raining, i opened my plastic zip bag and took off my iPod to stored for safety. The rains was cooling and refreshing, and from then on onwards i ran for the 1st time without Nike plus iPod and no music, just the sound of my breathing and heartbeat.

I plodded through rains water throughout the race, the best thing was my Injinji Socks keep my feet dry by draining out the water from my socks, you gotta try it to believe it. The route was mostly flat and weather was cool due to drizzling rains, now i like running in the rains. I found myself running strong and didn’t walk at all except walking breaks at the water stations, this was my best race ever.

The rains stopped after 16km, and i put on back my iPod for some music and listen for my timing. The music got me going to a new pace there, now i’m pretty sure i need music while running. In the end i did not catch up to Ijam, but coming nearer to the finish line, i was excited when i looked at the watch and calculated i could do a new PB here. My timing in the last ENR HM was 2:43 hours. 400 meters from the finish line i was feelin good and the legs was on my side, so i pushed on for power finish with longer and faster stride for my new PB.

My timing: 2:15:51 hours (unofficial) PB

I shed off 27 minutes from previous record yay, the weather and my new Injinji socks plus Heel Seats help to achieved this. For the record, please don’t take this like i am gloating or anything coz i know there are more faster and better runners out there, but i’m running against myself, against the best of what i’m capable of doing, to be a better man, to be a better runner and hopefully a better human being.

I met Ijam after taking my medal from finish line, i did not know my standing as i didn’t read the card given to me at the finish line. This is why i’m all for digitally recorded timing where we can have official stats of our running during the event. Ijam did well, sub 2 hours for him. Zaki joined us few minutes later eating the cendol and watermelons. We met many of the Sundown warriors, including the Ultramans and Ultrawomen – Frank, Hailmi, Dr. Puisan during this event.

IMG_2175RBUs (Zaki, Dr. Puisan, Ijam & yours truly)

Ijam left earlier after taking photos, and while talking to Zaki the Deejay was announcing lucky draw numbers. One of the number was mine, i went up to the stage and won myself a big hamper. Now who wants to help me finish up the hamper?

Overall this event was a success to my book.

  • Good deejays and communications with runners
  • Ample parking space
  • Warm up sessions before the race
  • Adequate water stations (every 2 km)
  • Nice medal

My only comments is the need for timing chip in the future, hopefully the organizer will take this into their consideration next time.

PB at Setia Eco Half Marathon

IMG_2179I recorded a new PB in my 3rd attempt at Half Marathon, i’m so glad that i rested and recovered stronger from my previous injuries.

My new Injinji socks and Heel Seat did help me running painless and faster this time :-)

Finally i won some prize in running, did i made it to stage? Yes i did and i dedicate this personal feat to Yim, Ziff, Syed, June Malik and others fallen RBU comrade. Hope all of you will recover soon and come back running strong!

Running report and more stories coming up, yes i’m doing a “Yim” here..

To be continued…

Box from America

IMG_2155

It’s finally here, the box that i was anxiously waited arrived safely yesterday afternoon. I bought a couple things related to running gears from eBay in US and get them delivered free to my friend house in Maryland, he then posted those items to me in Malaysia about 2 weeks ago. Thanks Ferdauss :-)

What’s in the box ?

IMG_2159 Two brown parcels from the box

IMG_2160That’s right peeps – two pairs of Injinji socks and Heel Seats

IMG_2162 Heel Seats from HTP

I ordered two items from eBay

  • Two pairs of Injinji Performance Toesock
  • Heel Seats for my recurring Plantar Fasciitis injury

Later that night i had a short run to test both items, the Heel seats look like your normal shoes insoles for that extra cushioning but it’s really a set of clinically proven insoles to cure plantar fasciitis and heels pains.

IMG_2163

It’s kind of funny putting on those Injinji socks, it like putting on gloves but it’s for your feet and it fits perfectly with my toes, great!.The best part is that the Heel Seats work like a charm, when i put those insoles in my shoes and start walking, i could immediately feel the difference, all of a sudden my heels pains disappeared. I had a painless run which i haven’t felt in a long time, i would recommend this if you have heel pains. What the insoles does is applying acupressure on crucial muscles and ligament of your feet. The longer i run with these insoles, i better i felt with it. Now i can enjoy my runs pain free..

Kiasu No. 0003

IMG_2149 TEAM KIASU strikes again, I registered for Shape Night Run 2010 as soon as the registration open today. When i found out that online registration at Hooha still pending, i went to Wisma Olimpik Malaysia, Jalan Hang Jebat, KL in the morning and manually registered my entry.

As a result i am the 3rd person to registered for the Men Open Category, well you can blame my kiasuness to the Sundown Marathon. I missed out on great event coz i was late in registering my entry for Sundown early this year. From then on, every time i wanted to enter particular race, i make sure i registered early if not earliest!

This Shape run is only open to a maximum of 3,500 runners and the goodies are “berbaloi baloi”, so peeps out there, you better make a move in registering this event before Sundown hit on you! It’s another Nite Run in Putrajaya, so expect humidity..a lot of humidity.

On another note, last week was tiring and emotional period for me. Abah fainted due to asthma attack early Wednesday morning, and was rushed immediately to HKL. I received the odd phone call from my brother at 5:15 am, Abah was later warded for 3 days in ICU before recovering another 3 days in normal ward. It was heartbreaking seeing your father laying there weak with all the tubes and wires inserting into his body.

Abah is a fighter, and by Wednesday afternoon he showed signs of movement and responded well when we talked to him in the ICU, we were told by the Doctors that apart from asthma attack, Abah might also suffered from stroke. On the 2nd day, he was breathing by his own and did not needed support from the breathing machine as compare to his 1st day in ICU. I’m glad to know that it’s only asthma attacked Abah not stroke as confirm by the doctors in HKL.

Yesterday, the doctor gave us green light to discharge the 73 years old man from the Hospital, the old man never liked staying in the Hospital for too long. Now i am glad that he is recovering at home where he is most comfortable.
